Get started
The shortest path from a new login to a useful EpistaBase session.
Use this section when you are opening EpistaBase for the first time or orienting a collaborator.
The first session has three jobs:
- Find the main navigation.
- Understand how a workspace, project, and experiment fit together.
- Trace one result from figure back to data.

Walk through the trametinib demo
Follow the current seeded demo through Flow, analysis, report, and lineage.
Main surfaces
EpistaBase uses a left sidebar grouped by what you do:
| Area | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Home | Recent work and the guided demo path. |
| Projects | A research goal with related experiments, data, reports, and collaborators. |
| Data | Upload files, watch processing, open file details, and launch viewers. |
| Experiments | Scientific questions with runs, samples, data entries, notes, analyses, and figures. |
| Flow | Flow cytometry workspaces, gates, statistics, and templates. |
| Imaging | Microscopy and whole-slide image review. |
| Analysis | Python notebooks and AI-assisted analysis sessions. |
| Molecular Biology | Constructs, sequences, primer design, codon optimization, and vector editing. |
| Protocols | Versioned protocol documents. |
| Search | Workspace-wide search across records and files. |
| Settings | Profile, workspace policy, and admin/billing surfaces. |
The exact modules you see can depend on workspace settings. For example, Provenance appears when a workspace admin enables the Provenance Explorer.
Recommended first route
Start with the trametinib demo walkthrough. It matches the current demo seed and gives you useful objects immediately: a project, three experiments, parsed files, a saved Flow workspace, analyses, live figures, a report, and linked notebook notes.
