Molecular Biology

Work with constructs, sequences, primer design, codon optimization, and vector editing.

guideReviewed 2026-06-26

The Molecular Biology app is for construct and sequence work. It includes a library view and design tools.

Library

Use the library to inspect:

  • constructs
  • sequences
  • sequence length
  • GC content
  • feature counts
  • linked construct/sequence state

Open a construct or sequence when you need the detailed record or viewer.

Design tools

The design tab includes:

  • primer design
  • codon optimization
  • vector editing through the embedded Open Vector Editor path

Use stored sequences when possible. Pasted sequences are useful for quick design, but saved sequence records are easier to trace and revisit.

Naming

Use names that identify the biological object:

BetterAvoid
MAPK-output qPCR primer setprimers final
DUSP6 amplicon primersdesign 3
Trametinib-response RNA paneloptimized copy

Relationship to data

Sequence and construct records can become part of the broader experiment context. When sequence-derived work leads to assay data, keep the assay in Projects and Experiments so data, protocols, and figures remain traceable.
